Achieve your sustainability goals with BioBased Eppendorf Tubes
The lab of the future
Make polymer products and components substantially and measurably more sustainable by following the "reduce, reuse and recycle" concept, without compromising product quality or performance
Oil-based plastic containers have become an indispensable part of laboratories around the world since they replaced glass containers, but this situation poses a major problem from a sustainability point of view.
Eppendorf is not only committed to developing new products, but also to developing new, more environmentally friendly product materials.
We are now introducing screw cap tubes in 5.0mL, 15mL, 25mL and 50mL sizes, made from certified polypropylene based on renewable and recycled content.
About the bio-based polymers used in Eppendorf Tubes BioBased
To increase the sustainable properties of plastics used in the production of lab consumables, more sustainable plastics need to be made and used from renewable raw materials.
The production of this particular bio-based polymer reduces the use of fossil raw materials by replacing them with sustainable raw materials produced from biological waste and residues (second generation renewable raw materials).
The raw materials used to produce renewable raw materials can be traced back to the original collection point and the date of the renewable raw materials from carefully selected suppliers.
The final polymer is sustainability certified by ISCC PLUS, a trusted global certification system for bio-based polymers and manufacturers of bio-based polymers.
About ISCC PLUS Certification
ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) is a global certification program for the circular and bioeconomy. This certification enables traceability throughout the supply chain.
ISCC PLUS allows companies and producers in the food and feed, chemical, pharmaceutical and bioplastics industries to obtain sustainability certification. With ISCC PLUS certification, companies are assured that their entire supply chain has been audited, from agriculture to the final product. It also applies to products based on waste, residues and recyclable materials.
The ISCC supports the transition to a circular and bioeconomy, bringing many benefits to business and the environment, including:
Traceability throughout the supply chain
Authenticity of raw materials
Clear, third-party verified information
Strengthening consumer trust through independent certification
About ACT Certification
Independent Verification
my green lab. is a third-party independent verification and certification organization that certifies laboratory products with the "ACT - The Environmental Impact Factor Label". Meanwhile, Eppendorf is expanding the number of products that have been validated and certified by ACT, including a wide range of tips, tubes, deep freezers, pipettes, and more.
"The ACT label was created to address the need for both scientists and purchasers to have clear, third-party verified information about the environmental impact of lab supplies. By focusing on transparency (ACT) in manufacturing, energy, water use, packaging and end-of-life products, it is easy to make more sustainable product choices.
Turning waste oil into high-value-added products
Eppendorf BioBased Tubes, sterile, screw cap type, are available in 5mL, 15mL, 25mL and 50mL volumes.
Product Features
The Eppendorf Production Center in Oldenburg, Germany is ISCC PLUS (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) certified.
The ACT label (Accountability, Consistency, Transparency) is an environmental impact factor certification label implemented by My Green Lab.
The tubes are made from 90% renewable raw materials (e.g. recycled food oil waste and residues) and 10% fossil raw materials (applying the ISCC mass balance approach).
A general quality certificate/certificate of conformity is available separately for Eppendorf Tubes BioBased.
