EZTest is composed of five integrated components: a plastic primary packaging container, cap, filter, a glass ampoule containing the culture medium, and a carrier on which the spores are adsorbed. The medical device has received FDA 510(k) approval to be sold in the United States, and the English instruction manual states that 24-hour and 48-hour cultures are possible; however, in order to obtain a sterility guarantee in facilities other than medical facilities, cultures must be performed for 7 days (with observation every 24 hours). A seal that allows for 7-day incubation is included.
