This is a linear type (non-switching) unregulated AC adapter. Since no switching is performed, it is low noise. It is suitable for high-precision analog equipment and audio that are extremely sensitive to noise. The output is unregulated, so the output voltage of 12V is a guideline. If you need exactly 12V, use an adapter with a slightly higher voltage such as 15V and stabilize it to 12V with a three-terminal regulator. (There is also the DK020-R with a built-in regulator.)
